Wedding Speeches
Most people who have to make wedding speeches are not practiced speechmakers or stand up comedians. There are two simple rules to follow to get you through - keep it short and make it sincere.
Speech Order
In a traditional wedding the Brides father will give the first speech. If there is no toast master the best man will usually introduce him. The Brides father will usually thank everyone involved in the wedding and propose a toast to the bride and groom.
The groom then makes his speech, thanking his new father-in-law for his good wishes. He will thank the brides parents, the guests for attending, the best man for his support and then proposes a toast to the bridesmaids.
The best man replies on behalf of the bridesmaids. Tells an amusing story about the groom, reads out any cards and could not be here messages and announces the cutting of the cake.
Preparing a Speech
Jot down some rough ideas, then shape them into a natural progression.
Don't make the speech too long.
Never include anything risqué or anything that could be offensive.
Don't try to be too funny you could overkill it.
